Hello, my name is Anil Thokar. I am a Plumber in Kathmandu and this is my story.
I was born in Kathmandu, but due to financial instability, we moved to Dolakha. Even though it was difficult for me to adjust there, I have the fondest memories in Dolakha. As these memories are precious and personal, only I can cherish them for my entire life.
I completed my +2 in Dolakha, came to Kathmandu to learn technical skills and find a job which can help in my financial situation. My uncle suggested me to learn technical skills in Balaju School of Engineering and Technology (BSET).
Before joining BSET, I wanted to learn electrical skills, but when I joined BSET, I came to know that plumbing had a huge scope as well. It was a difficult journey for me, I had to memorize many complex formulas, polish rusted pipes and joints for weeks to find out or have an idea about the equipment.
Even though many of my friends wanted to go abroad to work as plumber, I was determined to work in Nepal. I first saw the job vacancy of plumber in Sajilo Marmat Sewa a few years ago, they were looking for experienced plumbers, but as I did not have enough knowledge I did not apply. Now that I have accumulated knowledge from more than 8 companies, I was confident and applied in Sajilo Marmat Sewa. And as I had hoped, I was selected from a pool of 9 potential candidates.
The main reason for joining Sajilo Marmat Sewa (SMS) was to be a part of a community where they recognized the value of Blue Collar workers.
As I recently joined, I was not aware that Sajilo Marmat Sewa provided services in 2 different models. In one model, the company assigns technicians after the customer faces a problem and requests a solution. In the other model, the Annual Maintenance Contract (AMC) model, the company schedules Plumbing or Electrical visits (depending on service package) in clients’ locations.
It has been a bit difficult for me to keep up with the company as it operates in a different model. Nonetheless, I am optimistic that I can become an important part of Sajilo Marmat Sewa.
Thank you Dear Reader for reading till the end of my story!
